I hope someone can help me in English (I can speak German but my spelling/grammar is peinlich).
Ive suffered pancreas problems for over 10 years. Doctors suspect its autoimmun but they cant bother running the tests. It is most likely typ 2. I have had one episode of acute pancreatitis treated with steroids. Now I have occasional pain but its not too strong. I also have pancreas insufficiency to the point where I have internal bleeding. I'm often in the hospital. They tell me they think its autoimmun but they never run the tests.
One thing I dont have is a pancreatologist doctor. I want to know if its autoimmune and have help with my insufficiency. I live in the Frankfurt/Main area. Does anybody know an autoimmun pancreatitis specialists in this area?

Re: autoimmun pankreatitis
Hey Hortensienbusch, thanks so much for your reply. I was worried my English would scare people away :roll Yes I saw the list of "specialists". However two of the hospitals that said my pancreatitis is probably autoimmune are on that list of "specialists". They were clueless. They should have made a complete diagnosis- is it autoimmune or not. . Furthermore then diagnosed my pancreas insufficiency as ulcertive colitis...colitis that I'm able to completely treat with kreon
It seems doctors call themselves pancreatologist when all they really know is diabetes. I'm hoping to find someone with actual experience with a doctor that really knows the difference between colitis and pancreas insufficiency and how to correctly diagnose AIP.
Do you have any personal experience with a pancreatologist?
